Get Set Goals! Achieve your goals by sharing them

Delighted to announce that I've just launched a new website to help us all keep our resolutions and achieve our goals. The idea is simple: You share your goals with others and you will achieve them faster. Please check out Get Set.. Goals!

Here's the urge and the story behind starting the site

How it all started with a FB status update I asked a simple question on Facebook: Does sharing your goals and resolutions in the open help you keep them better? The answers were mixed:
  • Yes, it does, because you don't want to lose face in front of others (even people who've only seens your face on Facebook :) )
  • Yes, it does, because The Secret says so, and Brian Tracy wrote so: writing down your goals makes you execute better. And wakes up this whole mysterious law of synchronicity that all the world's forces come together to help you.
  • Not really. Either you have it in you to do it, or all public sharing won't matter.
  • It hurts, because an esteemed speaker in TED said that stating a goal releases some chemical that makes you feel you already achieved it.
Great! lot of reasonable and contradicting opinions! Then what's the truth? And, more importantly, how do we help people realize their goals, keep up with their new year resolutions, and abide by their new age affirmations? That's how the idea of Goalcasting (broadcasting your goals to the world) came into being. Let's make this work, because the alternative has only resulted quietly dropped resolutions.

Doing it, as a way of proving the point

As a first test, I stated a public resolution on Facebook and Twitter that I will launch this service in a week's time. Result: Launched the site in 6 days. Did stating it in public help? YOu BET! there were 100 moments where I could've dropped it and done other things with my time. But something kept pulling me back. A couple of late nights, and here we are! I hope this site helps us all realize our goals and keep our new year resolutions!

thanks, vishy
